Realistic Expectations & Acceptance
... food for thought in life and trading
It’s important to understand personal growth and progress within the context of one’s own journey, rather than measuring it against others who may well be at completely different stages of their lives and development as traders.
Unfortunately, we all tend to compare ourselves to others, often without considering the context or journey of those we compare ourselves to. We see where they ‘are’ and what they are ‘doing’ without factoring in what they did to get there and how long it took.
“Don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.” – Jon Acuff
This quote serves as a reminder to focus on your own progress, to appreciate your unique path, and to measure your success against your past self rather than against others. It’s about running your own race at your own pace, without forgetting to enjoy both the process and the journey.
Embrace where you are right now, focus on your growth, and remember that every expert was once a beginner. Your path is yours alone; what may be right for some, may not be right for others. The important thing is to continue moving in the right direction.
